Presentation of the SPP 100+ Raumlink results at the international CIB W78 conference in Marrakech 2024

In October 2024, Anne Göbels and Oliver Schulz presented their work “Common Digital Space: Proposing a Schema for Spatially Linking Heterogeneous Resources” at the international CIB W78 (Information Technology in Construction) in Marrakesh.

The work presented defines different types of space in the context of building documentation. Central is the “Asset Space”, which represents the real space of the asset, and the “Entity Space”, which represents the space of a resource (e.g. a drawing, an image, a point cloud, etc.). The schema thus makes it possible to classify heterogeneous resources spatially and, based on this, to express their spatial relationships to the asset and to other resources (see Fig. 1). In this way, spatial overlays can be derived, which are then implemented as links between the heterogeneous data sets of an asset.

Through this work, a central objective of the Raumlink project could be achieved, and we are pleased to implement and test the approach for the data of the Nibelungen Bridge in cooperation with the Institut für Massivbau from Dresden.
