Students visit the Nibelungen Bridge in Worms

On August 19, 2025, 18 students from TU Dresden visited Worms. On site, they received an exciting, guided tour of both the old and the new Nibelungen Bridge.

The program began with a special highlight: a lecture inside the box girder of the new Nibelungen Bridge. In the atmospheric light of a projector on gray concrete, Maximilian Haß from the Landesbetrieb Mobilität Worms and Chris Voigt from MKP GmbH gave a presentation about the history and maintenance strategy of the Nibelungen Bridge, which was built in 1953 and is of significant historical importance. Afterwards, the students visited the box girder of the new structure and the Hessian abutment of the old Nibelungen Bridge. Finally, representatives from Landesbetrieb Mobilität and MKP exchanged ideas with the students over pretzels and croissants, discussing the structure and the challenges involved in its preservation.

Many thanks to Landesbetrieb Worms and MKP for the original and informative tour!
